Election Results: Education Committees
Kuujjuaq (September 26, 2018) – Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is pleased to announce the results of the Education Committee elections held earlier today. The representatives elected by each Nunavik community will serve two-year terms on their local Education Committee.
The Education Committees’ role is to provide school administrators and the school board with recommendations and advice regarding education and the hiring of school employees.
The newly elected Education Committee members will hold their first meetings in the next few weeks. At this first meeting, they will elect a committee president and vice-president.

About us
Kativik Ilisarniliriniq was created in 1975, under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA). Since 1978, it has been the exclusive provider of educational services to all Nunavik residents. Under the JBNQA, the school board also acts as an institution with unique powers and jurisdiction geared towards the protection and development of the Inuit language, culture, and way of life through the delivery of tailored educational services and programs. The educational programs developed by the school board are offered in all schools throughout Nunavik’s 14 communities, in Inuktitut as a first language and in French and English as second languages. The school board operates 17 primary and secondary schools, as well as five adult education centres and a pre-college facility.
